Ingredients

  • 50 ml gin preferably London Dry
  • 15 ml crème de violette violet liqueur
  • 10 ml maraschino liqueur
  • 20 ml fresh lemon juice
  • Ice cubes
  • Garnish: candied violet or edible violet flower

Instructions

  • Shake: In a cocktail shaker, combine gin, crème de violette, maraschino liqueur, and fresh lemon juice. Add ice cubes.
  • Mix Well: Shake vigorously for about 15 seconds until well chilled.
  • Strain & Serve: Double strain into a chilled coupe or martini glass.
  • Garnish: Top with a candied violet or an edible violet flower for a delicate and eye-catching finish.

Notes

  • If you prefer a more pronounced floral note, you can slightly increase the crème de violette.
  • For a crisper, tarter version, adjust with a touch more lemon juice.
  • The Aviation is traditionally made without crème de violette (pre-aviation revival), so you can omit it for a more classic, clear cocktail version.
  • Candied violets not only add beauty but also a subtle sweetness to each sip.
Tip: This cocktail pairs wonderfully with spring-themed appetizers like fresh cucumber tea sandwiches or floral-infused desserts.
