Ingredients

  • 1 ciabatta loaf sliced and lightly toasted
  • 150 g feta cheese
  • 60 g cream cheese or Greek yogurt for a tangier version
  • 4 –6 fresh figs sliced
  • 1 –2 tablespoons honey
  • 1/2 tsp crushed pink peppercorns
  • A few fresh thyme sprigs
  • 1 tbsp olive oil optional, for brushing bread

Instructions

  • Toast the Bread: Lightly brush ciabatta slices with olive oil (optional) and toast in a skillet or oven until golden and crisp.
  • Make the Whipped Feta: In a food processor, blend feta and cream cheese (or Greek yogurt) until smooth and creamy. Scrape down the sides as needed.
  • Assemble: Spread a generous layer of whipped feta on each toasted ciabatta slice.
  • Top with fresh fig slices.
  • Drizzle with honey and sprinkle with crushed pink peppercorns.
  • Garnish with thyme sprigs for a fresh, herbal finish.
  • Serve: Serve immediately while the bread is still warm and crisp.

Notes

  • For extra richness, drizzle with a bit of olive oil before serving.
  • This dish pairs beautifully with a crisp white wine or sparkling water with lemon.
  • If fresh figs are unavailable, use dried figs (sliced and lightly warmed) or substitute with pear slices.
Tip: Serve this as part of a mezze platter with olives, roasted nuts, and hummus for an elegant vegetarian spread.
