Ingredients
- 1 cup fresh parsley leaves tightly packed
- 1/2 cup fresh basil leaves tightly packed
- 1/2 cup fresh cilantro leaves tightly packed
- 4 cloves garlic minced
- 1 shallot finely chopped
- 1/2 cup red wine vinegar
- 1/2 cup olive oil
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes optional
- Salt and black pepper to taste
Instructions
- Prepare the Herbs: Finely chop the parsley, basil, and cilantro, and place them in a medium-sized mixing bowl.
- Add Aromatics: Add the minced garlic and finely chopped shallot to the bowl with the herbs.
- Combine Liquid Ingredients: Pour in the red wine vinegar and olive oil.
- Season the Sauce: Add the dried oregano, red pepper flakes (if using), and salt and black pepper to taste.
- Mix Thoroughly: Stir all the ingredients together until well combined. Adjust seasoning as necessary.
- Let it Rest: Allow the chimichurri to sit for at least 15-30 minutes at room temperature before serving to let the flavors meld.
